“How easily we hand our mind to anyone who insultsus, how easily we attach ourself to fame and validation”
– Epictetus & Marcus Aurelius

Yes, it is very easy for many people to hand over their minds to those who insult them, or to become overly attached to the opinions of others.
Similarly, seeking fame and validation from others can also lead to negative outcomes.
When our self-worth becomes tied to external factors such as the approval of others or the level of recognition we receive, we become vulnerable to feelings of inadequacy, disappointment, and insecurity.

The Stoic philosophers, including Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, believed in the importance of having a strong, inner sense of self and not being overly dependent on external factors for one’s sense of happiness and well-being.
